Elliesmoomoo.....think about this way. I'm gonna come to your house, and stop you feeding or drinking on demand. If you have a cup of tea, or coffee, or a snack, or a sandwich, I'm gonna look at the clock and remind you that it was only 2 hours since your last cup of tea, and you can't possibly need that biscuit now. From now on, you have a drink/snack only at the times I tell you to, which will be decided by me, and which will mean you only ever have a drink with meals, and these are at the same intervals every day. Oh, and you can only have cuddles from the important people in your life at certain times of the day, too. If you ask for one at the wrong time, you will be told to wait until the clock tells you.
Daft, eh?
Breastfeeding beyond the newborn stage is not expecially time consuming, and it still provides the food, drink, snacks, cuddles all human beings need. As your baby gets older, you don't have to drop everything to feed if your baby asks - they can wait a little while if you are on the phone or driving or whatever, or you can offer something else, such as a rice cake or a banana in your case.
It's not really 'demand feeding' when a baby gets to 7 months....it's more like just living your life
