replacing 11pm and middle of the night feeds with follow on milk

My DS is 27 weeks, exclusively bf until recently weaned. I'm trying to cope with PND and am exhausted so am planning to replace his 11pm and middle of the night feeds with follow on milk. Any suggestions on how to minimise engorgement and to ensure enough of a supply to continue bf in the day? Sorry to post twice in one day but am really struggling with this and could do with some advice.

Id recommend just dropping one feed initially rather than both. Maybe change the 11pm to 10pm so u can get more sleep - u cud then get someone to do the night feed. If you miss 2 feeds u will get engorged and supply may drop in the day. Try to get a break during the day too - don't be afraid to ask for help - this doesn't last forever and nows the time to pull in favours!

Thanks foursenuf that makes sense. Is follow on milk too hard to digest for a breast fed baby? Someone suggested using newborn formula as it's a little easier on the tummy.

If you buy some ready mixed sachets u can try the different brands and ages to c what suits your baby without the expense of a box of powder. As your baby is weaning follow on milk should be fine tho.

When u want to cut out out the night feed just offer water - they soon get the message. Hard work initially tho - wait til your feeling a bit less knackered! This worked for my 4.
Good luck!!
