Can someone please tell me what that bottle is doing in the new MN logo?

That's it really. Or was it just too difficult to portray a breastfeeding mother in profile?

And I don't care if the bottle's got EBM in it either.

Really, it's hardly promoting bottle feeding is it? I am pro breastfeeding, but I really don't think that a silhouette of a bottle in a logo is going to impact BF rates.

ExtraFancy · 30/01/2009 11:15

Maybe that mum at the back's got a baby latched on - you just can't see it

girlandboy · 30/01/2009 11:15

Perhaps it's a bottle of wine with a really large cork!

ExtraFancy · 30/01/2009 11:16

Maybe it's not a bottle at all but a stuffed Makka Pakka...

Shitemum · 30/01/2009 11:18

They havent changed the logo, it's been like that for ages! Maybe it's just bigger now...
I was also when I first saw the bottle, a sucky cup would have represented me better but ho hum....

wastingmyeducation · 30/01/2009 11:19

Perhaps it's been snatched from MILs grubby hands!

lizzytee · 30/01/2009 11:21

Lou, I hear you and am anxious not to come over as Millie Tant. I am also not saying that MN members are not informed enough to make their own choices about feeding their babies.

I just can't stand the fact that whenever a symbol is needed for feeding a baby, it's a bottle.

at bottle of wine. This mummy has had her juice that way more than once.

i agree with lizzytee actually,. have already posted on the other thread about this.
as I said on there, i hadn't even really noticed it myself.

but it's pretty sad that most people when thinking of babies, think of a bottle.

it could have been anything, a cup, a teddy bear a nappy...
breastfeeding needs to be normalised in this country.

wastingmyeducation · 30/01/2009 11:34

A teddy would be identifiable. There's no anti-teddy alliance around here is there?

GentleOtter · 30/01/2009 11:37

It is a Fruit Shoot bottle.

lizzytee · 30/01/2009 11:38

Not last time I looked. Want me to try and think something up?

lizzytee · 30/01/2009 11:39

LOL at Otter. Now that's really worth getting hot under the collar about. Down with the evil aspartame!

Keeping things even, so as not to alienate people who can't / won't / stopped bfing?
I was pleased to see it because I imagined it being filled with purple Sunny D, like my own newborn's bottle.

Need an extra large there because I'm lying completely.

whitenoise · 30/01/2009 14:09

the words get a grip spring to mind

Grendle · 30/01/2009 14:11

Am I the only one who when glancing at it briefly thought the whole logo looked like a group of cornered soldiers bearing arms . Now that really would be inappropriate...

Essie3 · 30/01/2009 14:13

I thought it looked like a crab, but then I noticed the two bits sticking out at the sides on the bottom bit are legs - wearing flares.

That's sooooooo last season.

KayHarkerIsNotAnAuthority · 30/01/2009 14:19

I can't actually see the logo anymore. I'm in favour of a new logo that's predominantly an enormous nork. But only really because of the amusement possibilities when my MIL comes round...

Essie3 · 30/01/2009 14:22

Hahaha, KayHarker, how about one of those women has a boob hanging out that's squirting milk?
Or is that just me...

KayHarkerIsNotAnAuthority · 30/01/2009 14:29

I'm in favour of a nice new piece of artwork with a woman doing up a feeding top, while talking on a mobile, handing her child a lamb chop for BLW, receiving a bunch of flowers, doing some filing, and brandishing a swiffer. All while being a Goddess, of course.

Which would probably turn out like a bizarre modern-art version of Shiva, so never mind...
