hi,
i'm still bfing my 19 mo DS - not a problem, still like doing it (most of the time!) but am trying to cut down but yeah he still feeds around 5 or 6 times a day, although not at all at night - he sleeps through, 11 hours - has for about 3-4 months.
I haen't had a period since I got pregnant, not a problem either, but 7 days ago I got really bad cramps - proper go to bed with a hot water bottle stuff, then nothing, then today I had some really light spotting when I wiped and tonight I have cramps again. Is this what I'm to expect from periods now I've had a baby? Will they be long and drawn out and painful? when will the blood come? or could it be something else? shoudl I be worried.
Any advice greatly appreciated
Thanks x

It may have been ovulation 7 days ago and af is imminent. My first post-dd periods were odd and painful.

ilovetochat · 28/01/2009 21:32

mine came back after about 13 months (was bf) and were very heavy and painful, passed out at the 1st one, have just gone back on pill so hopefully will get beter.

ShowOfHands · 28/01/2009 21:33

Yes much heavier here too. Get quite anaemic and faint.

thisisyesterday · 28/01/2009 21:35

haven't had it myself but know a couple of people who have had similar.
i know one person had all the symptoms of imminent period but then nothing, for several months before the real thing actually arrived.

so i'd say your body is getting ready to start up again.

randomama · 28/01/2009 21:37

ah boo!
i never had period pains before so i'm a bit spoiled. can ovulation hurt then as well? maybe was it that?
what is af?
thanks for your input ladies x

yeah could have been ovulation. that can cause spotting too.

af is auntie flo aka your period

thisisyesterday · 28/01/2009 21:43

what i mean is, it didn't go on for months, but she got it each month when period would have been due.
pain, pmt etc, everything except the actual bleeding

randomama · 28/01/2009 21:43

wow - af = period, how strange!
I guess I'll just hae to wait and see what happens. HOpefully I'll just get my period soon and the cramps will go away. until then i'll remain surgically attached to my hot water bottle!
thanks everyone. x

I am bfing my 18 month old DD and my periods came back about 4 months ago.

Although my periods are fine, i now get VERY painful ovulation which i never did before. I even get pains down my leg. So as showofhands says, it could be that.

randomama · 29/01/2009 20:34

thanks, i'm thinking maybe the pain last week was ovulation and maybe now i'm getting my period. not in any pain today but had more brown spotting when I wiped this afternoon although nothing else since then. i guess auntie flo is maybe booking her flight or summat?!
cheers!
