14 feeds a day at 5.5 months - is it just me?

i know that everything a breastfed baby does is "normal," but really - this seems a bit excessive.

My 24 week old DS has NEVER slept through the night, and the odd four hours between feeds feels like i've won the lottery.

I think most days it is more like 10 feeds in 24 hours but I've kept track today and it was 14!

Am I alone?? Please send support and advice...

No you aren't alone We've had a few days like this in the last fortnight/three weeks - DS will be 6mo in a week.
Just sounds like another one of those lovely growth spurts! Hopefully your supply will come up in a day or so and you'll be back to slightly fewer feeds. The only advice is just to go with it, and let him stay on the breast for as long as he wants to as that will send your body the right signals re: milk production.

Not competing, just trying to make you feelbetter.

Yep, sounds like mine at that age too .

ilovelovemydog · 16/01/2009 13:57

I stopped counting!

You are not alone!

ilovelovemydog · 16/01/2009 13:59

Oh, and it's definitely worth it!

DD, who b/f until about 13 months, was never ill during this time. Same with DS who is 10 months now.

DS, 14 weeks, just the same! Is hard with 2 yr old DD here but he's a quick feeder so am resigned to it for now. He's getting better at night but still throws a night of 2 hourly waking in at least twice a week. Gritting my teeth for 6 months as remember that's when it got better with DD.

i am praying things get better. not sure why or when they will but hope springs eternal.
