Apparently I should give up bf now and introduce goats milk at 9 months as main drink so I can 'be free' (GP instructions today)

Baby is thriving, I am happy, freedom is the ability to make my choices and act on them. I am happy breastfeeding.

Goats milk is for intolerance btw. He said its lactose free- but we're casein free, I know the older ones are OK on goats milk but not until a year.

What a donkey...

Goats milk is neither lactose or caesinate free, and isn't recommended for under 1's anyway.

Lactose-free? Is this guy for real? Has he forgotten all the biology he did a school? Lactose has to be in milk. It is milk sugar. The only lactose-free milks are not really milk - like soya or rice.

Of course breastmilk is fine for as long as you want to give it - and it has lactose in it, because it can't not have lactose in it

What are we at the mercy of?! Can you report him/her?

You need to report this wrong 'advice' - it's such a stupid thing to tell you to do.

I thought that about actose, but was wondering if I had it wrong.

Apparently the caseinate ingoats is very subtly different allowing it to be tolerate by some children? Seems to work for ds3.

breast feed as long as you can because ur baby will digest it far better.
my son went onto lactose free formula at a year because i was heavily pregnant with his sister and was loosing weight and made me shattered.
he found it much harder to tolerate, and i wish i had just put up with feeling rough.
i switched on insistance from my doctor too, perhaps they dont always know best?
