Can't find anything to confirm if this is ok or not when breastfeeding.

Sorry, I have been droning on about my lack of conception of no2 for the last 2yrs, but if anyone could answer this for me, I would be very pleased.

My luteal phase is now too short, presumably because I am still feeding 3yo ds. I have tried cutting down feeds to no avail, I have tried agnus castus which made no difference and now have ordered some progesterone cream.

I have searched the web and can only find stuff saying it's not compatible with breastfeeding, but then in the next article it will say that the doses are less than you would have during pregnancy. I don't think it's too much of an issue for us if it has an impact on supply.

I looked up the BFN website but it's all changed and i can't find the table of drugs etc during breastfeeding. I have also looked at LLL's website and contacted the LLL leader who hasn't got back to me yet.

Anybody used it when feeding?

toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/ is a good US site. Hope it helps.

Kellymom is usually quite helpful and this site is fairly comprehensive.

Thanks both. I have had a quick look at some of these and it will need me to sit and read it properly this evening once ds is in bed so will report back later with my findings.

BfN Drug factsheets

BfN drugline:0844 412 4665.

I had a short luteal phase after ds for a few months after my period returned. It was rather frustrating as we were TTC, though it fairly rapidly lengthened again. I remember kellymom suggesting making a dramatic change to LO's bf pattern can cause a hormonal shift. Is your ds still feeding much?

His feeding varies Grendle. Some days recently he has started just going morning/night and having a feed around 11pm. This has made me ovulate at a more sensible time in my cycle (around day 15 instead of 20+) but has had no effect on my LP.

Having skim read some of the links, it doesn't look like there would be a problem using it. The only thing I see that could be a problem would be the drop in supply. If it made ds want to feed more then it could all cancel itself out!!

Good luck with it all

Thanks. I ordered it earlier and have had an email saying it has been dispatched, so it might arrive just in time to start using it this cycle.
