if you have had chicken pox it is likely your baby will be immune but not definite. it may be milder if he/she gets it. good luck

Your baby will probably be immune if you are, not because of the breastfeeding, but from the antibodies they got through the placenta.

yes breastfeeding helps too but babu has antibodies from you for first 6 months

My 5 month old ebf baby got full blown chicken pox from my 3 yr old last Easter. i had a severe case when I was 12. She looked like something from the Middle Ages but actually stayed pretty chipper and I think bfing must have helped on that score.
NHS direct has told me she would NOT get it!
I also have friend who has a 3 month old ebf baby who got full blown chicken pox despite her having had chicken pox herself.
I would have thought chances are better for a younger baby though?

Breastfeeding does very little for preventing chicken pox, the antibodies in breastmilk are of a different type.

27 do you have a medical background? if so can you help me here? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childrens_health/672398-should-i-give-antibiotic-or-not

DD2 got chicken pox at 5 weeks, just a week after her sister ogt it. She was ebf so the antibodies didn't help!
