DS2 had/has thrush - could it be connected? I have some daktarin, would it help if I put some on my nipples?

I get these pains and I think it's something to do with milk production, as it's always about an hour after a feed. Ring any bells?

I've had thrush too and the pain is different for me as it's deep in the breast tissue. Although I have heard people mention deep breast pain with thrush.

Have you both been treated for thrush?

Sorry, I'm not being much help am I?

MamaG · 23/12/2008 12:24

No I haven't been treated but hte pain doesn't feel deep iykwim

Go to thee docs.
Thrush inside the breast causes shooting pains, can require fluconazole.
Take a look here

Where is the pain? You really should be treated at the sametime.

How is it all (feeding, your recovery) going?

MamaG · 24/12/2008 08:51

HV has told me to put hte daktarin on my nipple after a feed and if its no better by monday, they'll give me some other stuff - she thinks it sounds like thrush too.

Remember to carry on treating ds whilst you treat yourself. It may not seem like it, but you will get over this blip and then bf'ing will get soooooo much easier.

MamaG · 24/12/2008 11:27

Thanks

I didn't really respond to your earlier post did i, sorry, I was posting against the (baby) clock!

I'm recovering fine now thanks, got over my infection. Am a bit pissed off about the thrush - whilst its bearable, I feel a bit jinxed - first horrible birth, then feeling awful afterwards, then transfusion, then problems BF, tongue tie, infection and now this! DS is fine though which I should focus on

When I had thrush a few months ago I got Daktarin for DD and clomitrazole (sp?) cream for my nipples - got them OTC after a chat with pharmacist. You need to wipe the clomitrazole cream off before feeds though. Also DD was 16 months at that point so maybe it's not recommend if you are feeding a tiny. But the point of this ramble is that maybe you could try having a chat with a pharmacist today rather than having to wait until Monday.

I know how you feel. It was a bit like that for me after the birth of ds1. Hopefully this will be the last blip for you and you'll both me on the home straight. But very glad to hear things are getting better - albeit slowly.

Merry Christmas to all in the MamaG household
