dd3 seems to have tummy pain.

could be colic, whats the best way to treat it? she is breastfed, are there foods i should avoid to help her?

I was told to avoid things that make us windy - e.g onions, beans, cabbage etc. Also too much citrus, and excercise (because of the lactic acid). HTH

she is feeding, burping loads, but just seems uncomfortable. poor wee thing.

What about drinking something yourself that might help? I drink tons of chamomile tea and have done since dd2 was born. It might be coincidence but she's never had any problem with wind.

Poor you and your little one, its so hard, isn't it? My dd1 was bottlefed and very windy - really horrid griping pain that kept her awake all night and distended her tummy. In the end she had to have an allergy milk.

Have you spoke to your hv about this?

i have 3 botles unopend here if you want them sent so you dont have to go to docs??

its worse in the evenings, she doesnt scream for hours on end, but seems very uncomfortable, legs drawing up, lots of wriggling and a few screams here and there. can settle her by laying her on her tummy or holding her close to my chest while rubbing her back.

also do you have a baby bouncer?i got a bouncing/vibrating one to try and help my dd when she was little??

misdee, lying on my chest was the only way dd1 could get comfy. The good news is she did grow out of it.

Ooooooh yes, my dd1 loved a vibrating bouncy chair thing. DD2 hated it so you might want to see if you can borrow one before splashing out.

dd2 was very sicky, and infacol made her worse, so not too sure if i should try it wih dd3.

have a graco swing, which helps, but needs new batteries.

I think this is just what babies are like tbh (though you are one up on me so probably know better!). Dd lots lots better than ds (who did scream in the evenings) but can be squawky and unsettled. I think she's more unsettled and tired than in pain though.

its definatly more pain than unsettled. its a different cry aloha (its funny how you know).

Dd1 had one cry for distress and quite another for pain. Poor you, I do feel for you. Is she more settled at night?

Gripe water or infacol really help

dh mum says Gripe water is no fun now they have removed the alcohol lol. will get some gripe water tomorrow, and give it a try.

Dd had colic and it really helped. I think if you are desperate sugar water is similar

she is now sleeping. this has been happening each night for the last week or so. starts about 6pm, till now-ish. lots of painful crying etc, and lots of wind at both end.

What about a dummy? Sucking acts like a painkiller for babies. I'm honestly not obsessive about dummies! Dd doesn't have one.

The stuff in gripe water is fennel. You can drink fennel tea. Chamomile has similar properties and is also soporific and relaxing - for both of you!

have tried giving her a dummy, she just spits it out. will suck on my finger or will comfort suck on the breast.

Dd1 used to chew her dummy like a maniac every time she got a spasm of pain.

Goodness, I'd forgotten that, funny how it all comes back.
