Advice here on how to cope with stopping b/feeding a very sucky baby who won't take a dummy

Does anyone know at what sort of age they grow out of the needing to stuck stage?

DD is 18 weeks and I'm going to be giving up b/feeding at 26 (wild horses couldn't make me b/feed for longer than that so no discussion to be had there.)

DD is a very sucky baby though but absolutely hates dummys - spits them out with a look of disgust and I've tried lots of types and I'm not that keen on dummys anyway as lots of my friends seem to be suffering from disruptive sleep because of them.

Can anyone suggest what else I can do to comfort her other than b/feed?

DD, and to a lesser extent DS, were very often comforted by DH's little finger, he just tucked it up into the roof of their mouths and they sucked like mad! Didn't often work with my finger but then I was the source of the white stuff and a finger wasn't going to cut it

Feetheart that's amazing, thanks! She was just screaming her head off and I put my (clean) finger in her mouth and she calmed down!

Thanks so much

I know you've said you're not keen on dummies and that your ds spits them out. I felt the same as you but I tried with a different shape soother (NUK) and ds took it. It was a godsend really. Being kept awake at night because they can't get it themselves in the night doesn't last that long and it was better than being used as a breast soother by dd.
Your little finger is also good but not always that practical when you've got to stuff the laundry into the machine with one finger in his mouth
