Hi, I am PG with #2 so have decided to start weaning DS off me... I do love BFing so don't really want to wean 100% (and if I'm honest it's the easy option at 5am to get him back to sleep!) but I don't think tandem feeding is for me and I want DS to kind of forget about it before DC2 appears next summer so he doesn't think DC2 has stolen his place at the boob.

So tonight I put DS in his cot after his bath and story and I am happy to say.... he went to sleep with no peep at all! He has been going to sleep awake for ages but drowsy from a feed so this is fab I think. I just hope he keeps it up! Do you think I should keep up the morning feeds just now and drop all the night ones? Or just try to drop them all now? (he only has a feed upon waking and before bed). Thanks

Hi ilikeyoursleeves, I am not PG but have just been through the final weaning steps which you are about to take (DS is 14mo).

What worked for me was to drop the night feeds but keep the morning one, so he had some comfort after a hard night with no milk. The first few nights were tricky but he does understand the word 'finished' so when I said 'milk finished, gone' at 3am he did at least understand even if he didn't like it much! Anyway on these mornings the morning feed was very popular!!

But within a week or two, as he got used to the idea, he showed less and less interest in the morning feed until eventually I just stopped offering and he didn't ask. (bit sad about that)

My breasts have now returned to normal, but they'll never be the same again! Good luck
