10 month old - how many feeds a day?

My DS is coming up to 10 months old and still very keen on breast feeds. He's on 3 solid meals a day and eats more some days than others.

However, he's still breastfeeding quite a lot and when I mentioned it at the clinic that on a good day he feeds about 4 times, the nurse looked at me in horror and said that was far too much and to think about putting him on formula at night time.

Well, I worked really hard to establish breastfeeding and now it's so easy, he clearly enjoys it and is putting weight on properly, so I don't want to put him on formula. But it got me worrying that I am feeding him too much (still on demand) and can be anything from 4 to 6 times a day (more at night when he's poorly and teething).

Generally, he has an early morning feed, mid morning, before his afternoon nap and before bedtime. Breakfast, lunch and tea are solids.

Is this ok?

My DS2 has more or less the same...
'early morning feed, mid morning, before his afternoon nap and before bedtime. Breakfast, lunch and tea are solids'

He is 10 months in a few days and he is bottle fed, so dont see how swapping yours to formula will make much difference!
He still has a night feed some nights too...

Oh and he's a dinky little thing. On the 10th/15th centile... so not overfed!!
