Is my 4 month old having a growth spurt... or is he just waking out of habit?

Hi,

Wanted to ask a question to all you experienced breastfeeders out there My 4 month old (18 and a half weeks, to be precise) has never been a good sleeper (addicted to dummy, & other such problems, leading to many night wakings). However- even during previous growth spurts- he never fed that much during the night, usually once around 11 or 12, and then once more at 4 which took him til morning. In the last week, he wakes, cries & seems ravenous at least every 1-2 hours throughout the night. So for example- last night he had a feed around 5 pm. Then one more feed before bed at 7 pm. Then he woke for feeds (and had full ones, seeming extremely hungry) at 9, 1 am, 3 am, 5 am, 6 am... Then woke up completely at 8.

Not sure if this is just normal (and if so HOW LONG does it last?) I've noticed also that the more he eats at night, the less he's interested in eating during the day. How can I encourage daytime eating? (with bf I think it's quite hard)... Also, is there a possibility my milk is running low? He's putting weight normally up til now, is consistently on the 50th percentile.

Many thanks!
