Was using avent but ds2 (10 days) seems to have a very hard suck and the formula he is on is thicker so the first 2 flows he sucks away and nothing comes out, tried variflow and kept pouring out and made him very windy. switched to NUK first bottle orthodontic, and latex seems to suit him better but the teat is upside down to normal orthodontic?? Normally the flat bit goes on roof of mouth but on the packet the picture shows to have the flat bit on their tongue??

Im also finding he is now falling asleep more on these teats and wont take as much milk. it takes him 1/2 hour to have 2oz!

Anyone elses experience i be grateful

I had great trouble getting DD1 onto a bottle, when I was looking to get her off the boob, I bought a load of Avent bottles as thats what everyone seemed to use, however she would touch them and on the recommendation of a maternity nurse tried the NUK bottles and she took to them really well.

With DD2 bought only NUK bottles and she didn;t get on with them at all, went back to the Avent - unfortunatley had to buy a new load!

So my advice would be to try different brands but only buy one at a time!

on the nuk ones the flat bit does go at the top. the bit with the hole in should be facing upwards

the bottles dont seem to be the problem, its the teat. Esp as he sucks sooo hard i just cant get one to suit him..

thisisyesterday, on the teats i have the flat bit is one side and the hole on the other more rounded bit.. and the picture shows the hole should point upwards in their mouth and the flat bit on their tongue... is that what you mean?

yes, that's right.

Maybe you need to go up to a size 2 teat - faster flow. My DD loved NUK teats - but my newbie DS refused them and I got MAM ones. Both are quite flattish though as I have flat nips and you are supposed to get teats that are similar to your nips if you are bf and ff or bf and expressing.

Would second the try ones until you get one he likes.

i havent bf him at all so he doesnt know what my nips are like so that not a prob. He def prefers latex.. not sure what else to try?

yeah both of mine preferred latex. and latex dummies. it's much softer, but harder to get hold of these days!
I would second the idea of maybe seeing if a faster flwoing one would help at all?
