small white blister on each nipple and pain when/after feeding - any idea what it is?

DS is 11 months. I have had blocked ducts recently but they now seem fine. For th last two weeks I've had pain when and after feeding, especially at night and in the morning.

Unhelpful HV told me to go to the GP and get treatment for thrush but having had thrush for 8 long weeks, I am almost certain it isn't thrush - any ideas??

I have just read a thread talking about sticking a needle in your nipple - would this really help? I will if I have to!

Lol I was just about to come and say the pin thing. It worked for me last week and I guarantee you won't even feel it. Pretty idea though

little lamb - so I just get a pin and stick it in the blister do I? Will anything come out? What is it anyway

Good luck Skid!

Mine are red and weeping blisters caused by the little bugger darling's teeth, am now giving him cows milk once a day to try and cut down his feeds but he will drink the cows milk then demand boob so it isn't really working!

mine was literally a small white spot thingy. I think the official explination is that somehow a small bit of skin grows over the duct, you just need to kind of gently puch it aside. Hope it all turned out OK (went to put ds down for a sleep and ended up dozing as well )

It's probably a milk blister. I had one and did the sticking the needle in thing...surprisingly unpainful. Do remember to sterilise the needle though

I couldn't bring myself to do it! But now I have some consensus I might brave it tonight...wish me luck

skidaddle I have the same thing!! Read about needle.. got needle and couldn't do it! Let me know if you actually do it and how it works out... I'm scared. Does it ooze when you stick needle in (those who have done it)?

hi star - I still haven't had the nerve to do it but the pain is not nearly as bad. What I did dare to do was to put a warm flannel on it and then push at the blister with my nail. I think because it was warm and wet (sounds like some kind of soft porn!) it was quite easy and painless to dislodge. So maybe try that if you can't bear a needle. Blister is still there but no longer sore (and and nothing came out). Good luck!!
