Has anyone heard anything about Heinz Nurture being discontinued?

A friend of mine was using it for her DD but it seems to have disappeared from the supermarket shelves and when she asked no one seemed to know when it would be restocked.

I know there was a lot of controversy about its relaunch and price hike from Farleys but does anyone know anything else?

Thanks.

not being flippant...but, presumably this is artificial milk you are talking about....does it really matter? tHEY ARE ALL PRETTY MUCH THE SAMENESSooops caps, sorry, however I do realise that some Babies do seem better on a certain brand of milk....although for most it does not seem to make a diffrence...
hopefully I am not being rude...justm really, is there a specific reason for your friend needing this one...iykwim

spongebrainbigpants · 27/11/2008 08:18

Thanks for your really helpful reply .

She wants to know because she was concerned as to why it had been withdrawn.

I won't say anything else because I'm hoping I've misread your reply, I'm tired and may say something I regret.

If it has been withdrawn it'll be cos it's not selling and they need to rethink!

If there was a problem with it they would have to be advertising that - you'd see warnings everywhere.

Probably just a supply issue.

spongebrainbigpants · 27/11/2008 09:13

Thank you fruitful, just wondered if there was anything else behind it. My friend has changed her baby to a different formula but she's not getting on with it so wondered what was happening with Heinz.

Tell her to call Heinz and ask?
They will give her nearest stockist if it is still out there

spongebrainbigpants · 27/11/2008 09:36

She tried phoning Heinz but they're not being very helpful - she seemed to think they weren't telling her the whole story!

That is interesting - they were marketing it pretty hard. Do you remember that mysterious person who came on here extolling the virtues of Heinz Nurture in weird marketing speak, while claiming to be a single mum? Strangely enough it was just after mumsnet had hit the press for its campaign to boycott it. Think his/her name was Bond.

Judging from the posts on here a lot of people were finding that it upset their babies' stomachs, so perhaps it has been quietly withdrawn. Disagree with FairLady - I think we definitely do need to know about this.

spongebrainbigpants · 27/11/2008 10:51

Thanks IorekByrnison, I don't remember that post but probably wouldn't have taken much notice cos we never used the Heinz stuff.

Have to say I am intrigued too. Wonder whether we'll ever find out though?

Why were MN boycotting it? Was it cos of the price hike?

its in stock on the boots website so it must still be about.

Seona1973 · 27/11/2008 13:14

its also in stock in tesco (well the one that would deliver to me anyway!)

IorekByrnison · 27/11/2008 13:50

Looks like it's still on sale according to the Heinz website too - perhaps not so sinister.

Maybe it just wasn't selling well in that branch.

Seona1973 · 27/11/2008 14:18

maybe somebody cocked up the order and that made them run out but they blamed it on heinz instead!!

spongebrainbigpants · 27/11/2008 16:22

what a shame - love a good conspiracy theory!!

will let my friend know, thank you

I like Heinz Nurture because it comes in a bigger carton (the ready made) 250ml and all the others are 200ml. It's also the same price as the others so actually a bargain. My baby has more than 200ml at one feed so we normally have to open 2 cartons.

Amberc · 27/11/2008 16:50

PS - 'artificial milk'? give me strength.

spongebrainbigpants · 27/11/2008 16:56

Amber, yer I know - really helpful response wasn't it? So glad some people take the time out of their busy day to make others feel crap .

Can you still get hold of Heinz then?

wtf...my first son was fed on Formula (which is artificial milk, surely???)....so, no beef to me....but I remember that back than I was really worried about keeping to the same Formula, as that is what they are aways advising, only to find out that generally it really doesn't matter, iykwim...
However, I know sometimes there are reasons why a Baby may need a certain Formula...and I wondered if that was why your friend was trying to find it.
But obviously it was because she is worried about the reasons for which it was withdrawn.

And I typed a part in caps because I hit caps lock and I did mention that...tbh, I think it is you that is rude. But hohum...it was pure accidental...but of course that never happens to you than....

I really did NOT mean in in any way rude...but like OP I was very tired...

FairLadyRantALot · 27/11/2008 18:50

I mean,t I only found out later that it really doesn't matter...

FairLadyRantALot · 27/11/2008 18:51

oh, and I wasn't sure if Heinz Nurture actually is a Formula...it's been a while since I have used Formula, so, not really sure what they are all called...

spongebrainbigpants · 27/11/2008 18:52

I apologise then, but I'm afraid it came across as rude and really upset me - and I wasn't the only who thought it was rude.

I'm sorry for being rude in return.

OP posts:
spongebrainbigpants · 27/11/2008 18:53

Problem is there are alot of women on here who are extremely rude to those of us who ff - and I thought you were doing the same thing.

Misunderstanding.

OP posts:
FairLadyRantALot · 27/11/2008 18:53

Iorek...I didn't mean ...does it matter...as in who cares...I meant it, if it mattered which Formula a Baby gets....at the time I did NOT realise that OPs friend was worried about the reasons it was withdrawn for...
