How often are you bfing your 10mo? My friends are cutting down loads, am I overfeeding?

I bf my DS about 4 times a day. Going back to work in 4 weeks, but only 2 days pw, and I was planning on DS having a bottle for day feeds on those days, or nothing as he wishes.

He eats his meals well, finger feeds a lot, also has some mushed food.

Is this roughly normal? Should I be cutting down on day feeds do you think?

At 10 months, my DS was having about 6 feeds a day, on working days 2 of those were EBM bottles. I let him cut out his own milk feeds and it seemed to be fine.

If your DS is eating well, no need to interfere with what works for him I think

My dd was still having at least this much at 10 months. She's pretty much self weaned now at 2 and a half. If you don't have any other reasons to stop breastfeeding I would let your ds dictate how much he gets. At 1 year he should still be getting at least 50% of his calories from milk and letting him go at his own pace means that you'll know when he is properly digesting other foods etc.

BellaBear I'm so glad you posted asking this question as I have been worrying about the same thing myself.

My dd is 9mths she eats breakfast lunch and supper and also has some fingerfood inbetween. She bf's 4-5 times in the day and still wakes once in the night for a feed.

Just wanted to say thanks I'm not so worried now.

My dd only stopped feeding a month before her 4th b.day 7 fed at least twice a day till then.

She fed as & when till then, from 1-6 times a day & fed throughout the night till age 2.

DS2 fed lots at 10 months, still a few times in the day and at night.
