Hi, dd2 was born on Wednesday night and so far breastfeeding has been going pretty well. My milk came in on Friday night and she has been feeding weel. Unfortunatley due to what I think is a shallow latch on my left nipple has developed a couple of little blisters. Latching on is agony although once she is feeding it is just about bareable. I have been rubbing on some breastmilk and exposing it to the air. Is there anything else I can do to speed up the healing? I watched a Youtube video about latching so going to work on that too.

Thanks

i would use lansinoh, and keep it moist. don't lket it dry out oitherwise it will just crack open again as soon as baby latches on.

Firstly, many congratulations!!!

It does sound like a latch issue. Try to keep your nipples nice and dry, you can get nipple shields to wear when you are not BFing to stop nipples rubbing on your bra and to keep them dryish. The breast pads were useless in my opinion, just stuck to the nipple and hurt even more when I pulled them off!!

Lansinoh worked far better for me than keeping them dry. Avoids painful cracking you see.

Wow - latch video on you tube!

I had bleeding blisters with DS - Lansinoh

Another vote for Lansinoh here!

It's quite expensive BUT I understand that it can now be prescribed by the Dr. That is if you can be bothered to haul arse + newborn down to the surgery .

Might just be simpler to spend the £10 if you can afford to.

i used lansinoh and thought it was great for soothing the nipples but not actually for healing them.

I bought Silverette and was completely healed and pain free within approx 36 hours. Then i was able to concentrate on my latch without naturally pulling away from the intense pain - which only makes it worse. I cannot recommend them enough, IMO they are a MUST HAVE bfing item

Lansinoh and jelonet sorted me out. Keeping them moist was better than letting them dry out for me.
