It is essentail reading for anyone with an interest in this field. It changed me life.

Available through Amazon (and some other v interesting books on that page too.)

brilliant book.

BalloonSlayer · 17/11/2008 13:42

Can you give me quick summary of her ideas, Moondog?

There's no info on Amazon.

moondog · 17/11/2008 13:56

Some reviews here BS not all good!

It blew me away. Makes you realise that b/feeding is about so much more than just feeding iyswim.

It shouldn't necessarily be but many factors have contributed to it becoming an enormous issue economically, psychologically, socially, ethically and from a health perspective. She goes into all of this.

This one was good

Haven't read the one in the OP but have read the one above and it was fantastic. Well worth a read if you're into the subject, as it were

lulumama · 17/11/2008 14:42

I have the old edition, and it is amazing. It also made me and about not breastfeeding my children. but it has spurred me on to learn more, support women and to boycott nestlé!!

BabiesEverywhere · 17/11/2008 17:19

Hurrah, I have had this on order since June !!! Off to check status of my Amazon order

BalloonSlayer · 17/11/2008 17:33

Thanks Moondog.

I obviously didn't look hard enough when I looked on Amazon .

Think I'd better get it.

This is probably not the place to discuss it but I am never all that sure what to say to other mums about breastfeeding. I don't want to get all that militant about it:- reading the thread about people who gave up because they just couldn't get it to work, were totally unsupported etc, what if I said just the wrong thing to someone and made them go home and cry and cry?

does anyone know how different it is from the first edition?

KashaSarrasin · 17/11/2008 18:04

MLE I was just about to ask the same thing.

I have the first edition, bloody brilliant book, I'm so glad I read it when DS1 was tiny, it really changed my outlook on bfing.

charitygirl · 17/11/2008 18:22

I know exactly what you mean Starlight - my friends are first timers though, but most are not interested in researching much about bf-ing in advance and so I think the reality of the first few weeks will knock them off balance , and they'll end up thinking they 'haven't got enough milk' too.

But I don't want to come across as a know it all!

morethanasong · 18/11/2008 19:41

I tried to order it from Amazon but it said it won't be delivered til January. Is it only BMA who are selling it now?
