Can anyone suggest healthy snacks that don't require much preparation as I can't stop scoffing chocolate and I think my jeans are getting tighter.

DD is 3 months now and I want to start trying to lose the baby weight.

I found a bowl of dorset cereal really filled me up in the morning, don't know why but seemed to be more filling than other cereal.

Hmm, thansk wonderstuff, will keep an eye out for it.

Am currently eating some kind of oaty cereal in the mornings (for milk production) but still hungry by 11.

Are you drinking enough fluids?

otterchocdog · 10/11/2008 21:50

Tupperware in fridge with cut up carrots/cucumber/celery to dip into hummmus etc.

Similar fruit salad cut up in fridge served with greek yog and maple syrup

Oatso Simple

Smoothies in cartons.

Banana with rice cakes or oatcakes.

Milkshakes made with milk/banana/yogurt

Toast with peanut butter and jam.

Sorry if these all obvious but they are at least filling and nutritious as well as calorific and not too lentil weaving.

Does it ease off once you give up b/f does anyone know? I'm quite fed up about it now...normally I would just diet but if I don't eat for a while now I get really light headed - nearly passed out and was shaking in a service station last week as I hadn't eaten for 5 hours

SOH - drinking about 8 huge cups of decaff tea a day plus water, but you're right I think it's often thirst.

Otter, those are great suggestions, thank you.

ooh yes, be careful - it is soooo much easier to pile on the pounds while bf than when pg - I did! I think you feel so hungry it's crippling at times. I am deffo going to watch this next time. My suggestions would be;

porridge (or any cereal really)
half fat cheese & crackers (M&S do a great one)
grapes
wholemeal toast

wonderstuff · 10/11/2008 21:56

I am still bf my little one whos just turned one, it does get easier, as soon as she started weaning I got much less hungry and lost a bit of weight, I was eating alot of chocolate when she was tiny, found that not buying so much helped

likessleep · 10/11/2008 22:02

I gave up b'feeding a month or so ago and my appetite has definitely reduced. I can now manage from breakfast until lunch, and from lunch until tea.
HOWEVER, I feel like I have put weight on in last few weeks.
Hmmm, maybe I am still eating too many cakes

chequersandchess · 10/11/2008 22:05

Wonderstuff have tried going cold turkey on the chocolate but just ends up that we don't buy it cheap in the supermarket then end up spending a fortune in the corner shop

I found the BF in and of itself did not help me shed the weight I'd gained during pg. However, on stopping BF when DS was about 13 months, I dropped about a stone without even trying. It felt like my body was holding onto the extra weight in case it needed it for milk energy, then when it didn't, it happily let it go.

Chequers - am exactly the same - lately I have been eating a large amount of roasted butternut squash and baked potatoes - ooh and liver and bacon and onions. In fact I had that for dinner and now that I've typed it am now getting that horrible sick hungry feeling again tsk.
