it's fine - but cows milk is cheaper and less hassle IMHO

formula is heavier in the tummy or cows milk is?
I was going to give him cows milk during the day and a bottle of formula at night.

My personal view is cows milk is heavier-not basing it on fact-also very mucus forming so I tend not to give when ds has a cold/cough.

I gave my ds a bottle of formula milk at bedtime until he was 2, he had cows milk in the day, but he liked a bottle of formula at bedtime, and it made him sleep better too.

one of the boys at the childminder still has formula and he is 2 soon. i think they give him aptimel - a special one for 1+ years. although my ds grabs it off him a lot apparently!!! he has to put up with cows milk - 17 months

Hulababy · 13/03/2005 21:17

Yes. The Follow Up says till 2yo. Cow's milk is cheaper but is completely different in taste. My DD doesn't like cow's milk (neither do I) so she did have formula until about 18 months, as I felt it was better than no milk at all.

Yes its OK, but is also completely unecessary and much more expensive. You will not be giving a child with a varied diet any nutritional advantage by continuing with formula.
