Should I persevere with weaning from breast to bottle or is my DD never going to give in?

My DD is 8.5 months old and absolutely refuses to take milk from anywhere but me! I've tried bottles, I've tried Tommy Tippy cups, I've tried soft teats/trainer cups, I've tried switching formula brands, and introducing formula with other food (at breakfast) to get her used to the taste (she seems to think it's OK mixed with other things like yoghurt or weetabix). I've also tried putting EBM in a cup/bottle. I've tried cutting down breastfeeding so that she's a little bit hungrier (so cut out mid-afternoon feed which is when I offer her a cup of milk), but she'd rather go without!

Now I just feed her in the morning at about 6.30am and 6.30pm. She drinks water from a doidy cup with meals and seems to like that but if I offer formula in the doidy cup, she's not interested. My DH has tried offering her milk, she won't take it. I've tried to act like I don't care either way whether she does or doesn't take it ... so she doesn't! I feel like I've tried EVERYTHING!

So my question is, should I give up and just stick with those two feeds a day until she's a year? I'm really looking for inspiration from anyone who's had problems like this but perservered and got eventual success! The reason I want to stop BF is rather selfish, I have to admit - I really want to start TTC for another baby next year (I'm not getting any younger so feel like I need to get going!), and at the moment there's no signs of my periods returning whilst still breastfeeding. What to do? Any ideas from anyone?

Hi,

We struggled to introduce a bottle too. We found that it was no good if I offered a bottle so DH did evening feed for weeks, at first I would top her up with BM then stopped that and eventually she stopped battling with him and just accepted it. She never did take to powdered formula though, we had to use ready made stuff. A friend of mine struggled too as her DS was much older (around 2 yrs) They found that he would not accept formula but did like rice dream.
