Does slightly sore nipples always mean poor latch?

DD4 is a week old today and i thought bfing like a good 'un, it doesn't hurt when she is latched on and feeding but my nipples are slightly pink and sore to the touch, does this mean she isn't latching properly or is it just because they are not used to bfing yet?

I agree with CalE.
9 babies and I was sore for usually around 2weeks with mine. One was almost 6weeks.
Apart from the first baby, I knew what a good latch should feel like. A couple of them did seem to not open their mouths wide enough to start with and got better over time. But mostly it seemed it was a case of my getting used to the suckling again.

The midwife with my first baby was a great help as she reassured me that it was normal for some and that it would pass.
