Advice needed for friend - baby got a cold and won't feed

My friend asked me to post for her as she is running around with 3 children and has not time at the moment.

Her DS2 is 25 wks old and just about EBF with the very odd bottle of formula thrown in. He has had bad reflux which is being controlled with medication.

Anyway, he has had a bad cold for the past few days and is refusing to feed. When he does feed, he will only feed from one side. He won't take a bottle. She is really worried that it is going to badly affect her supply. She has been expressing a bit but she has 2 other children and doesn't really have the time to express all the time.

The dr checked out her ds2 and said he's fine, just a bad cold, but he was pretty dismissive when she mentioned her worries about feeding and supply.

Anyone got any ideas? Will her supply be ok?
Thanks

My son just had a bad cold (he's 6 months) and he decreased his feeding when poorly.

I just expressed when I could, offered boob often (he had lots of snacks). Seem to be fine now as he is better. Supply not drastically affected.

Hoping friends little one has a speedy recovery.

I found putting vicks just under my breast really helped dd feed as it cleared her airways a bit and helped her latch. A baby can get by fine on one side, but she might want to pump a bit in the eve just to relieve any pressue.

depends how long it goes on for but would imagine once demand increases again supply will aswell

She could try sterile saline drops (about 30p from the chemist) gently squirted up the nose before a feed. It works by softening the snot (sorry if TMI!)

Yes saline drops and a nasal aspirator AKA snot sucker.

Hi I am pudding25's friend whose baby has a bad cold and won't feed. It has been a few days now and he still will not feed from me and barely from a bottle. I have tried all of the above suggestions to no avail. I am getting very stressed, can anyone offer reassurance I won't lose my milk supply (am expressing) and that my ds will want to breastfeed from me again. I really don't want to stop. At the moment he cries and bites when I try to feed him. Also how long should I wait before going back to the dr. Already been twice, second time was yesterday. Baby quite alert just grouchy and not hungry. No temperature.
