Low supply after hols/period/nursing strike

My DD is 6 months and I did not want to give up breatsfeeding. However we've got back off holidays, combined with my period returning, a tooth appearing and a couple of days of nursing strike and my milk supply is withering away. I have enough to feed her first thing and thats it.

Since Monday I have been trying to express/pump to stimulate my milk supply every few hours. It was better this morning but no enough to get her through the day.

Does anyone have any other suggestions at all?

Yes, you need to feed her at least every three hours round the clock for three days - I know it sounds tough but within 24 hours things will start getting better and by the third day you'll have tons of milk. You need to rest and eat a lot as well.

BTW don't worry if your boobs suddenly feel less full, that's completely normal when your baby starts to get older - so you may not even have a problem - what makes you think you have no milk?

I have same prob. i have lost every inch of fat on my body (not good, I look seriously underweight like an old lady) so I know there is not much hope of my body being able to manufacture more.

My advice as a sideline is to eat loads of good fat like avocado, olive oil (and bad fat too for that matter) and to take calcium supplements. For although my 8 month ds is still putting on weight even though doesn't eat hardly any solids, I am detiorating rapidly.

EAT LOADS!!!

Can you just take it really easy foe a few days and have as much skin to skin with her as possible and offer her your breast frequently.
As twentynine said really. Enjoy your next few days. Don't worry your supply will be boosted.

Kalo - full fat milk made into milky coffee and hot chocolate was what I used to maintain my weight during the worst bits of breastfeeding (off the charts very hungry babies).
