Sorry - yet another thread about trying to wean a BF baby onto a bottle.
My dd is almost 7 months old and I am returning to work soon. She took ebm from a bottle early on but i stopped expressing as my husband was ill for about 3 months and it was too much hassle. I just continued to bf her myself instead. Now she won't take a bottle and i am not sure what to do. It's not that she refuses she just chews on the teat and swallows what comes out - obviously not much! She doesn't seem to get that she needs to suck. I don't want to stop bf her completely but would like her to take bottles when i am not around like my son did so i can go back to work and go out occasionally and be sure she is getting enough milk. Someone's suggested going cold turkey but this seems harsh and i am not sure i want to.
My son was much easier, i just left him for a day with my husband and he got the hang of it. I have left her but she just does the chewing thing and doesn't seem fussed if she has milk or not, doesn't cry but just eats her solids. I'm worried that if i don't continue to bf her all the time she won't get enough milk.
Has anyone else experienced this? I was wondering if there are any suggestions as to what i might do - perhaps introduce a cup? if so any recommendations on best types of cup from your experience would be welcome!!! sorry v long thread but wanted to get it all down! Thanks!!
