EBM in freezer for 10 months - would you use it?

My son is 1 and I stopped breastfeeding two weeks ago. I have one bag of really old EBM left in the freezer from December last year. ds has been drinking small quantities of cows milk and formula. The only reason I am now thinking about the EBM is because he is ill. He drank virtually no milk all day yesterday and this morning threw up virtually his whole formula feed. He's not desperately ill - in fact he's quite happy - but I'd just really like to get some fluids down him.

Has anyone ever given milk this old before?

p.s. I'm also trying to give him water, but he's not very keen

no - i think the guidlenline is 3 months for frozen ebm but may be wrong.

My DS was in NICU for first week so i'd got loads of ebm but never used it once he was home and chucked it all out when he hit 12 weeks as had read that it was no good after that.

Not sure i'd be keen on eating/drinking anything that had been in the freezer for 12 months to be honest.

actually having just googled this advice seems to vary - if in a proper separate freezer then up to 6-12 months.

guess you may want to defrost it then and see if it smells ok.

sorry - i've probably just totally confused you

Thanks all. I've just defrosted it and it smells pretty awful, so its going down the sink!

I ahve a very similar thread I started yesterday
My decision was to dump it

My mother just found a bag of expressed milk that I put in her freezer for dd nearly 2 years ago - going down the sink! I have heard the 3 mth recommendation but found it smelt a bit funny even then - maybe that was because I don't drink milk myself though.
