WORMS! What the heck am I meant to do if I can't take the meds?

DS and DH both seem to have worms. Eeek!! Not sure yet if they have passed it to me, but the medication we have (Ovex) says to treat the whole family but NOT if pregnant or if BF. So what am I meant to do? Still BF DD, and don't want her getting it either! Have tried phoning NHS direct but automatic message says they are taking emergency calls only.

Yuk. Yuk. Yuk. Anyone know what I should do? Will try posting on health board too.

ds had it last year and I was pregnant, so the GP just said to treat ds and dp, but to see her again if I thought I had it.
I didn't, so it wasn't a problem.
I would just give the treatment to ds and dh and then see the GP yourself if it comes to it

cut all your nails as short as you can

scrub your hands and everyone elses and under nails after everything possibly connected to anyone's anus. leave dh to do nappies.

the big booboo is usually kids scratching itchy bottoms at night and transferring to mouth via nails. so treat itch with tea tree or anything soothing.

wash all underwear, towels, sheets etc 60c or above and pop in dryer or outside on the line.

keep that up for a few days after everyone's treatment finishes.

OK cover your eyes if TMI but I DID have the little buggers when dd was tiny. She was still in special care so had to ask the docs if I needed to pump and dump. They said I didn't.

Try ringing 08444 124665 - pharmacist's BF information line. She's great, will call back if you leave a message - lots of stuff isn't licensed for BF women just because manufacturers haven't applied for the licence, she'll be able to tell you if it's ok.

So you took the medicine then, lizzytee? Am thinking I will, as having read AnarchyAunt's link it sounds as though it is probably ok.

I am pathetic - I am so totally grossed out by the thought I might have them.

Sorry fadingfast, yes I did, plus a second dose a month later. DD showed no ill effects.

Gross-out? Oh yes.
