Hi. I used this pump. It starts off with the fast pump and then automatically swtiches to let down after 2 mins but you can switch before then if your milk starts to flow. I found that it would normally come through before the 2 mins so would switch to letdown myself. If not, perhaps switch off and try again with the first fast pump and see if that gets it flowing (I did that when weaning off the breast as milk flow slowed down)

Hope that helps.

Right ive been playing around with it - only twice) but could only get 1oz of milk from both breast in an hour!!

Wondered if my milk had dried up!!

Ive been taking Fenugreek for a week but no effect

I have a medela swing and find that it gets very little out. This is at the same time my baby moved from the 2nd to 75th percentile. I'm not showing off about weight gain to say 'na naa na na naa' but just to say that pumping output is NOT a reflection on supply. It sounds like you are just not getting a letdown (milk ejection reflex). I often find that even with a super duper double- phase pump it still may not always happen.
If your breasts are used to certain stimulation i.e. very sucky baby, hand expression then a pump may just not fool them.
Try warm compresses before you pump and during (if you can manage it). Try pumping right out of a hot shower. Try nipple stimulation just before. Try getting a letdown going with hand expression and then slapping the pump on.
Also important to note that pumps can have flaws. Make sure you are setting it up right. That the tube is in properly (I find the connection with the swing is particularly fiddly - that triangular bit doesn't seem to fit tight). It might be that the flanges are the wrong size. Give medela a call and talk through what's happening. Their customer service team is notoriously good and even send out replacement parts etc.

What's your story generally? Baby feeding OK? Why are you worried about supply?

Just to add - how much fenugreek are you taking? Ignore instructions on the bottle which is rarely enough. You normally know it's enough when you smell like curry! Usually 3 capsules 3 times a day.
But why do you feel you need to take it?
