14 wk takes 1 boob instead of 2

Hi, my DD has wanted both boobs for a while now, and the past couple of days just wants one during the day. After 5-8 min (used to be about 10 min each side) she's done and will shriek if I offer more, from either boob. I'm pretty certain it's not wind.

Has anyone else had this experience?

its pretty normal for a baby to prefer one side to the other so don't worry about it too much

always offer both sides, maybe offer the least favorite first when she's hungriest, and then if she doesn't want it put her on the preferred side and express the other side until she decides she wants both sides again

that way you'll have expressed milk for other times when you may need a break

does she also have longer feeds or is it always about 5-8 mins?

it may be that the short feeds are just because she's thirsty and wants a drink rather than a feed

She has longer feeds when she's tired. I guess it's just another phase! Thanks for the reassurance, both!

but you could mention it to your HV next time your see her, she may have another suggestion
