DD teething and her bottom teeth are rubbing - can anyone help?

DD is teething like mad atm, think all her teeth are coming in at once! Every time she latches on her bottom teeth are rubbing my areola. She hasn't damaged the nipple but it's tender. Having tried taking her off and getting her to open wide but it's not working. I've been giving her calpol and powders but it's not helping. What can I do? She's 14 months btw.

I'm sorry to bump this again, but it's getting quite painful to feed her and I don't know what to do. Can anyone help please?

My DS doesn't always (actually rarely) sticks his tongue out past his bottom gums and am dreading him getting teeth.

So I am also interested if anyone can help[looking hopeful]

Oh I had the same problem with ds - his teeth were rubbing so much the bottom of my nipple that it made a cut. He has always been pretty poor at latching on. I just had to keep him off that boob for a bit.. It was ok with the other side. Its fine now, but boy did it hurt

Thanks janx. With me it's both but worse on one side. Typically it's the one she's always latched well on! It's not massively painful (yet) but is very irritating and she's feeding more now because she's teething and not eating much atm. Will try and just feed through it.

Hi, had forgotten about that problem! Just 2 nights ago I gave my last feeding to my 2 year old, and I remember now there was that phase where it felt like he was biting when he wasn't, just one of the sharp points of new teeth was sticking out oddly.

Like most other problems, it passes. Try different positions. I think lying down helped some, and you could even try a football hold or something. Hope this is of some help. . .

No advice, am going through same with 14m DS. Fecking eyewatering! He's had phases like this for months now, they seem to last for a few days, week max. Only solution for me is gritting my teeth, TBH. Hope it's comfier for you soon

Just seen these messages. Thanks Have been changing positions a bit and it seems to have eased off now. Tis really an investment to keep feeding these toddlers, isn't it? At least she hasn't bitten for ages though.

Came back to this charchar to let you know that I have started applying Lansinoh after feeds (brings back memories of this time last year!) and it's definitely helping me feel less sore. Might be worth a shot?

Interested to read this - dd3 is 17 mths and just feeds once a day at bedtime. She is teething atm and tonight feeding her was really quite sore - she just seems to be clamping down more firmly than usual. More little thing - just a shame she's using ME to teethe on...

Oooh good idea IADFD, I've still got mine too. Will start applying again as the teeth are rubbing again today. What memories, standing with my nipple dipped in salt water and then putting lansinoh on again and again and again! Glad it's not that bad!
