Er, I think I'm having my period! Will this affect bfing?

Devastated that my period has made an appearance 3 months into breastfeeding!! Why me!

Will this affect the breastfeeding and if yes, how? I thought my supply was slowing down last weekend, but it's back up again. Is this period-related?

Oh, and is it normal to have a period whilst bfing?

I hear some people experience a dip in supply whilest menstruating.

I got my first period 3 months into bfing exclusively, I was a bit annoyed as I was hoping I would be period free for longer as mine are fairly heavy

I looked into it and it does not affect bf or your supply, mine has been fine and it's perfectly normal it just means you are fertile again so be careful if you have resumed your sex life!

I found my supply slowed a bit (and DS got grumpy) when my period was due. Vague memory that calcium supplements are supposed to help? Or some kind of supplements anyway...

mine came back at about 4 months and I was very cross.

I got my first period at 3 months and I was not very happy about it. Anyway, it didn't seem to affect breasfeeding at all.
