Calling all BF experts! 12wo DS just not interested in feeding :0(

For the last 2 weeks he has hardly fed at all really.

I've been timing him for the past two days and he doesn't even feed for 5 minutes each time and goes 3-4 hours between feeds. He doesn't ask for milk, I have to remind him and when he does feed he is very easily distracted. I don't think he has become a super-efficient feeder as my milk is quite watery when he pulls off (whereas previously it would be thicker when he had finsihed)

He has fewer wet nappies than previously and has put on only 2oz this week. He has dropped from the 75th to the 50th (not that there is much difference betwen the two at his age IIRC). He is otherwise very happy. My main concern is that my milk is going to dry up at this rate

Any advice / encouragement / similar experiences appreciated

I seem to remember a phase of fussy feeding around 12 weeks, when I had to go somewhere quiet and boring for ds to feed - maybe he is just distracted by all the new things in the world? Try to relax and keep encouraging him to feed, I'm sure you're doing a great job.

Thank you. I am hoping that is what it is. With my 4yo and 2yo running around while he is feeding it is hard to keep his mind on the job and there is no such thing as a quiet room in our house. He does like to be entertained all the time so I guess looking at a boob all day is hardly exciting (until he is 14 I guess ).

BBM - it sounds like he is probably fine, he's feeding regularly and is happy. I'm sure he'd let you know if he wasn't. I think weight gain slows down a bit at this point too? (not an expert tho)

I don't think analysing the consistency of the milk helps much either - my milk looked different every time I expressed.
