Weaning 10 months old who won't drink from a beaker

Hello, this is actually a bit similar to the thread below although my ds is a bit younger. He is on 2 bf now (evening and night/morning) but is only drinking tiny amounts of water from the beaker and refuses to drink milk altogether. I feed him quite a few yoghurts and use follow-on milk for his food but really want to stop bf now and wondered if he will then not get enough milk anymore. Does he still need the milk as a drink at his age or will it be enough in the food if I try to give him more water?

Its so easy to get caught up in worrying about this. And I was like this a couple of months ago with DD. I think that if you do drop the feeds he will come round. And also get thirstier so drink more water - this happened with DD although we had a hard time when she wasn't drinking enough and got constipated. I think up to one year the milk intake is supposed to be a pint in total (inc yoghurts, porridge etc) and from one year 2/3 pint.

My HV told me that they should ideally drink 1 pint of milk per day up to 5 years old!!! (think that can include cheese, yoghurt etc. though, so if eating plenty of dairy they don't need to drink so much).

Like the others say though, try not to worry these things have a tendency of evening themselves out.

9 month old DD very similar (and has been for a couple of months)

only BF before bed and possibly in middle of night once

other times only drinks water .. but every meal has a calcium component

eg 2 weetabix and milk for breakfast, main course then yogurt after lunch, pasta and cheese for dinner with probably another yogurt

she also seems to barely sip water but I offer her it throughout the day
don't worry about it

My ds2 was like this - he gave up breastfeeding at 9 months and didn't really drink milk after that. He would have it on Weetabix though. I just gave him lots of yogurt and cheese and he did start drinking more water. Well, juice. He is nearly 3 now and he seems to be ok! He does occasionally drink milk now!

I'm going through the same with dd, she is almost 9 months old and I BF her in the morning and at night. I suspect I never had a lot of milk so I constantly worry about her not having enough milk. I started her on solids when she was 5 months and she took it really well, the problem is she reduced the amount of milk and never drank more than 15 oz a day and I'm afraid there's a lot of added vitamins in the formulas that she is supposed to take until she's one year old. Has anyone heard of that?
