breast feeding and mini-pill - will i have supply problems?

I am bf my 8mo, and want to start taking the progesterone only pill. I know in theory it is fine when bf, but am totally paranoid about it reducing my supply which i have always thought was borderline.

anyone had any experience good or bad?
Thanks!

I'm on the mini pill no problems except that you have a very small window in which to take the pills or they don't work. I am so scatty so not a great choice for me but came off the injection because it can take up to a year to regain normal fertility levels. We want to try for another dc after x-mas.

My ds is 9 months if that helps at all.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/08/2008 17:27

I took it from when dd about 2 months and BF until 13 months with no probs.

LaTrucha · 13/08/2008 17:28

I've had no problems. DD 7.5 months now and still bf.

no probs for me on supply side and i had supply issues at the start - used it since ds was 10 weeks. however am stopping as can never remember to take it so end up using condoms anyway! going to get diaphragm and then normal pill when i stop bf.

oh thanks all, that is reassuring. i too will have issues with remembering (i manage multi-vitamins about once/week!) but intend to take the one that has a 12 hour window (cerazette??)

Yup - that's cerazette. some people on here have complained of problems with their mods after taking it, so you might want to be aware of that for the first little bit. I don't think I've had any problems though.

Yes, I am slightly apprehensive about the effect on my mood too - I had ante-natal depression this time and mild PND with ds1 so will just try it for a bit and see.

I take cerazette, no problems with moods or supply, just remembering...I now keep the packet by my toothbrush and take it after brushing teeth before bed each night, found it helped to piggy-back it on another habit rathr than try to create a new one.
