Painful breast - advice appreciated

My left breast has been very painful for the last few days when DD feeds. I don't know why it has just started and DD (14 weeks) is making the nipple a bit squashed when she feeds but it's more of a shooting pain so don't think that's why. I've had surgery on that breast so don't know if that's why but is getting to the point where I don't want to feed on that side. Has anyone else had something similar?

A squashed and out of shape nipple can indicate that the latch isn't quite right - so check that.

Also a shooting pain in the breast can indicate nipple thrush. Does your dd have white spots in her mouth that don't disappear if you gently wipe them? That could also explain the bad latch as it will make her mouth sore. If you think you have it contact your GP and ask for treatment for both of you.

Either way, both of the above can be treated. I hope this helps.
