Hi My dd has just turned 1yo and is bottlefed. I've just switched her to cow's milk which she is fine with. Tried a beaker this morning and she had a paddy. So we went back to the bottle and I'm now going to leave it a few weeks before trying again but would like some tips/advice in advance!

I used one of the beakers she drinks water from so wondered if she was confused. Am thinking I should get totally separate beaker for milk. Also not sure whether to go cold turkey with the bottles or introduce a beaker gradually. She has switched to a beaker at nursery and her milk intake has dropped dramatically, from 6oz in the morning to just 1 or 2oz.

She drinks water from either a freeflow beaker with meals or a non-drip beaker when playing and is fine with both. Not sure how much difference it will make which type of beaker she has other than the potential mess!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much.

sorry i'm no help. DS (2) still has milk out of a bottle when he goes to bed. has it out of a beaker if he drinks it at any other time during the day.

Hello, not sure if it will work with your little one but we just decided one day that there were no more bottles. Ds was moody and wouldn't drink milk from the beaker (same type as for water) for 3/4 days and then just got on with it. I don't think the type of beaker matters that much, although my son does have a preference for the ones with straws, which he's had since age one. While he was refusing to drink from the beaker I just made sure he had lots of yoghurt and cheese.

We went cold turkey with ds1 too. I think he was 12 months at the time. After 2/3 days he realised that it was a beaker or nothing and was fine.

thanks everyone, was thinking of going the cold turkey route as thought doing it gradually might be a bit confusing!
