Lactulose safe with formerly lactose-intolerant bf baby?

Doctor gave me lactulose to get me moving, but I remember when I had this after coming home from the hospital after giving birth to DS, it gave him horrible stomach cramps. Is it likely to happen again, or are his guts mature enough at now 15 months to handle it?

Thanks in advance.

Is your son lactose intolerant now? Can he digest milk products? If so then there should not be a problem with lactulose.

He has some milk in a cup, but never more than a couple of oz. He has yogurt, loads of it, and has no problem.

If he copes with a couple of ounces of milk and is happy with yoghurt (and cheese?) then a few teaspoons of lactulose should be fine.

I am literally sitting here with some on the spoon and desparate for relief, so if you have advice please post!
