Morning after pill and breastfeeding - ok?

Had a mishap, need the morning after pill, is it ok to take when breastfeeding?

would have thought so, since it's progestogen only these days, and you can take progestogen only pill when breastfeeding. It's more effective the sooner you take it, so I would try and get it sorted today.

I was advised not by my GP, had to go and have the coil fitted instead (which you can have done up to about a week after the incident I think)

This was 3 years ago though so things might have changed since.

DS was only 3 months old and I was exclusively bf, still through the night too, so the dr who fitted the coil said it was really really unlikely that I would be ovulating as the round the clock feeding would be acting as a contraceptive but I didn't want to take the chance!
