DS is 15 months old. We have been breastfeeding a few times a day - usually around 5am to get him back to sleep for a few hours (early waker despite an 8 - 9pm bedtime) and around 6pm after nursery, a bit more on weekends.
He has been teething and a bit under the weather this weekend, and has pretty much completely refused my breast.
I initially thought it could be a nursing strike, but he's not upset or in any distress when I offer, he just seems to find my boobs absolutely hilarious, and starts laughing his head off when I get them out. Sometimes he puts it in his mouth but then just pulls off laughing or bites my nipple hard. He is still latching and feeding to sleep during early morning wakes.
Period came back at 7 months with no impact and he has 15 teeth which have never affected feeding before.
I offered earlier and he sat there poking my nipple like a button and laughing, he got upset when I put them away like I'd taken a favourite toy off him.
Does this sound like weaning rather than a strike? I was imagining we would feed until he was 2 or so, I'm quite sad we seem to be stopping! I'm getting quite nervous about continuing to offer though as he has bitten really hard a few times (and then laughed).
Interested in anyone else experiences of early weaning or strikes.
