Attitudes to Public Breastfeeding in New York?

We are taking my exclusively bf dd to New York next month and I was wondering what attitudes to bf in public are? I am hoping to just do what we do in London which means bf on demand, in restaurants, museums, cafes, on the train. Basically, whenever and wherever my hungry baby decides it's the time and the place.

I guess I'll do it even if people don't like it but I'd be a lot more relaxed and enjoy my holiday more if I didn't think it was likely to be an issue.

Lucky you! Generally New Yorkers could not care less what you do or where you do it as long as you do not disrupt their commute.

Also, it is your legal right to feed anywhere you please in NYC. Practice saying this with your best NY accent: whadda YOU lookin' at?

Have a really fun time and don't worry about anything!

thanks - that's just the info I was looking for. I shall start working on the attitude now

I was in New York when DD2 was 6 months old (5 1/2 years ago) and I bf her wherever I happened to be.

Here is the law.

N.Y. Civil Rights Law § 79-e (1994) permits a mother to breastfeed her child in any public or private location. (SB 3999)

N.Y. Penal Law § 245.01 et seq. excludes breastfeeding of infants from exposure offenses.

If anyone says anything to you tell them the F*!k off in the nicest possible way.

No one cares. And anything and everything happens in NYC.
