my 4.5 mth is EBF. trying to train him to take a cup for when i go back to work. I gave him 1 ounce of aptimil the other day which he seemed to like. was a bit unsettled that night then next day snotty nose and then did a massive vomit and then really unsettled all night.

Could this be an allegy to formula? Or is it just cos he's not used to it? Will he get used to it/ grow out of it?

Hey Cosima, I just posted a message under "vomiting two hours after formula". I've been EBF for 5 months and spent last two weeks getting a formula that does not make my baby vomit and that she likes. Apparently allergies usually manifest as diarrhoea or rash etc. not vomiting. But it depends how long after feed. Sounds like it could be some sort of intolerance in your case. There are lots of hypoallergenic formulas like Neutraminogen but I found my dd did not like the taste. We finally settled on cow and gate. The only way is to try different brands. Take heart, it's a big decision to start introducing formula and you feel guilty when it makes them ill. Give your DS some time to recover before trying a new one. It could be a coincidence with being sick. Try your first formula feed in the morning or middle of the day so you don't have the worry of baby aspirating if he vomits.

i thought aptimil was supposed to be the lightest and least likely to cause upset? I daren't try the others
