is it normal to feel sad when you finally give up breast feeding.... I gave our 14 month DD her last breastfeed on Sunday evening, and suddenly feel very sad. My husband thinks I'm daft to feel this way, he doesn't understand that this was a special time for me. Did anyone else feel like this?

Wow I'm sure I will feel like that. You're not alone. I feel quite sad that in a week's time I won't be the only source of food for my nearly-6-month old - now that feels ridiculous!

i'm geering myself up to stop feeding my youngest ( and last) child. It'll be a wrench for both of us.

I have not stopped ds's 3am feed because I realised he'd given up nearly all the rest and I'm not quite ready to quit. Don't blame you at all, katpotat.

It's petered out for me over the last couple of weeks. I feel sad about it & DH doesn't really "get" that as ds is 14 months old and more or less self-weaned. I think you do get a bit of a hormonal drop going on as well.

same here am just feeding ds in the middle of the night now and although I want to stop I still feel sad it is such a special thing and it is the last time for me too

DS, 14mo, has been a bit more take it or leave it in the last few days (coincided with a better appetite) and he has always been such a milk monster. I can see the end in sight

tricky one isn't it? It is such an emotional bond. think when you really want to finish, then it's not as bad as you think it might be.

I was very blase about DS2 giving up (at 13m) but now I have DS3 at 16m and I thought I had given up but I obviously haven't

Not going to have any more so this one might be a bit harder.

Glad it's not just me then, she was just getting bf before bed after a bottle of cows milk...so I knew she wasn't hungry....she hasn't even noticed i've stopped!
It's making me think I wan't another one now
