dd has a tied tongue and while she latches well (must be good latch as I'm not sore?) and is putting on vast amounts of weight (so must feed well) she makes a clacking noise while feeding. It's a bit like if you were trying to make clip clop horse sounds with your tongue iykwim. Is it the tied tongue causing the noises???

she feeds for about 15 minutes usually and clacks for the first part, it tends to quieten down as she gets into more of a rhythm. she's 8 weeks btw and has gone up from 25 centile at birth to 75th so definitely feeding ok

Will try that thanks. Can I ask if your ds is talking yet and whether it has affected his speech at all? she can poke it out between her lips a bit

MY DS had a tongue tie and he used to clack apparantely it is a symptom of Tongue tie. With regard to poking tongue out etc. We had DS snipped as it was causing real feeding difficulties. He is now 13mths and pokes his tongue out babbles away all the time using lots of different letter sounds which show me his tongue is working correctly.

she sounds fine!
ds2 used to clack a bit when he was little.
he has a very slight tongue tie ahich I did not notice until he was well over 2 years old and still feeding
if she is doing well and you are not in any pain, then I wouldnt worry

excellent to hear that. I felt sure the clacking might be tongue related so it's nice to hear it could be. Good to hear talking successes too.
Starlight my ds said hardly anything at 19 months though, is now 25 months and never shuts up and has massive vocab. Perhaps your ds will get chatting soon

shopping bag I also mean to say according to the consultant that snipped DS, tongue tie can be heredity. I had no idea but had remembered my mum saying that I had an op on my mouth when little when the consultant looked in my mouth lo and behold I had had my tongue snipped. I can safely say I can talk prop have no speach impediment apart from after a glass of wine.
