FF - DD is weaning, should she be on follow-on milk?

All these adverts for follow on milk is getting me a little confused!

DD is weaning and is 6.5 months old. I'm still currently giving her stage 1 milk so i just would like to know if she is still ok to have this (nutritionally) or if she should be moving on to the 6 months + milk?

I realise it could be a marketing ploy from the makers of the milk, but i would appreciate your comments.

Thanx

Oh and she still gets a boobie feed once a day too, in case that makes a difference lol.

It is a marketing ploy - before the ban on advertising formula they did not make follow on milk. Your baby will be fine if you want to keep her on stage 1 milk.

According to my HV, no babies need anything more than stage 1, unless they are seriously underweight.

ruddynorah · 22/06/2008 20:45

no it's fine to stick with first stage. the follow on stuff for 6months plus is just to give the makers something to advertise their brand with

the stuff they add to it is just to make it seem even more essential.

DanJARMouse · 22/06/2008 20:52

stick with the first one!

DD1 went on to follow on and i cant see what difference it made.

Kept DD2 on the same until she went onto cows milk, absolutely fine

DS is staying on the hungry baby stuff - little piglet

Thanx everyone (hello Jarm!! )

i did think that she would probably be ok as she is having very nutritious home made stuff and appears to be thriving on her milk and food combined. Phew for that.
