Starting to add bottles into my DDs diet and realising she isn't taking much milk?

Hello. My DD is on 3 meals a day and BF on demand. I have now started to give her a bit of formula to top her up and get her used to being fed by others so that I can leave her with family. She is ok with it, but only takes 2-3 oz at a time, and won't feed any more often or anything. She probably feeds on milk every 3 hours or so at a guess but has always been allowed to feed when she wants. I am now worried that she is not taking enough milk. She loves her solids but don't know if I should cut down so she takes more milk? The formula tin says she should be on 7oz bottles!!!

She is a small baby (13lb at 6months) and was 6lb 6oz at birth. She had gone up sereral lines on her chart but is now back down to the line she was born on, which the HV says is fine as long as she doesnt go below.

Also, I have been giving her SMA gold, as this seems to be the only one which does the small tins, as we dont use it up enough while still Bf but have been told by friends that it isnt a good one to be using with Bfing?

Beacuse breastmilk gets richer and richer with time, they don't drink more and more with it with time - so shes only used to drinking 2 or 3 oz at at time, and if its only the odd bottle, thats no problem at all. My son was exclusively breast fed to 6 months, but I was working so expressed for him from 4.5 months to 14 months - he never had more than 4oz in a bottle in that whole time, and that was 8-5.30 5 days a week.

Theres no difference in any of the formulas in respect to using them as mix feeds, so if you're happy with the one she's drinking, just stick to it.

Ok great, thank you.

The ONLY reason I chose SMA is because of the small tins. The milks usually say use within 4 weeks etc and there is no way we would go through a large tin in that time. I am not unhappy with SMA but she hasn't really had it much so far.

Can i hijack? I'm having a battle with ductal thrush and wanted to give DS a few bottles while my nips heal up. He never seems to take more than 2 oz of formula. Is this because he knows the good stuff is still there or is he really not drinking much? Weighed his nappies today (all bf) to see and he seems to be way way under recommended but still gaining and wetting, etc...please someone reassure me?
