Sore nipple in well-established bf - infection?

This is probably not for the squeamish - sorry if TMI. DD2 is 11 months and down to one bf a day since I've been back at work, but we've been doing this for 2 or 3 months with no probs. But for the last couple of weeks I've had small, pus-filled lumps on one nipple. No milk comes out of them if I hand express, but if I squeeze them directly, they ooze pus and a bit of blood - like a spot basically. My breast is tender and feeding is a bit painful, but not excruciating. I had a similar looking lump when I was pg, but it was never sore. Any ideas? Should I see GP?

I would say yes see a GP. Can never be too careful with breasts. The same thing happened to a friend of mine while away in America. Hers was infected and they treated her with antibiotics which cleared it in few days. Hers grew more painful as time when on. Like you she had been breast feeding for almost a year with no problems.

Good luck

Thanks, NooBee. Guess I should brave the GP, then.
