How to stop feeding to sleep?

My 10 month old feeds to sleep every nap/night/wake and I'm suffering from exhaustion (currently wakes every 2 hours).

I want to carry on breastfeeding, but has anyone successfully stopped feeding to sleep? Preferably with minimal crying?

Hi! My youngest is also 10mo and feeds to sleep at bedtime and when he wakes in the night. He doesn’t feed to sleep for naps, but essentially only has contact naps (morning and afternoon school runs!). Eldest two were very similar and I’m currently trying to think back to how we changed things as I’ll be back to work in a few months.

From what I remember, my eldest kind of weaned himself off milk by about 13 months as he was never that interested, though it had no impact on sleep!. My middle one used to feed all night so we did a week where my husband put her to bed and kind of just hugged her to sleep, and this seemed to stop her from needing milk to go to sleep at bedtime or overnight. She continued to have milk on waking and in the evening for another few months. I’m planning to try something similar with current baby.

Good luck to us both!
