hi there. im Kristina, 20 years old with a 2 month old baby boy.
i am trying to get my milk supply up as I am only really getting a table spoon at max with both breasts together.
i really need some advise on how I can get this up.
I’ve tried fenugreek but doesn’t seem to do anything. I’ve tried eating more and snacks, and also pumping, power pumping etc. I just can’t seem to get it up and it either stays the same or drops loads. I feel so upset all the time that I can’t feed my baby from my breasts as it was something I always wanted to do since I got pregnant! 😪
please any advice would be so grateful.

I’m so sorry you’re having such a difficult time with feeding. Is there any face to face breastfeeding support where you live?

Will your baby latch on to your breasts at all or does he refuse? If you’re 8 weeks in I’m assuming you’re bottle feeding formula as well as pumping?

There are some basic things you can try to help him latch and to stimulate milk production. Do as much skin-to-skin as you can. Strip him down to just a nappy and lay him on his tummy between your breast, wear a dressing gown or warm cardigan with no bra and have him in complete contact with your belly and breasts.

When you give him bottles be sure to use paced feeding so that he still has to actively suck to get milk, don’t lay him on his back and have the bottle upright.

If he will root towards you but refuses your nipple, a nipple shield can help to get him to latch.

Kristina it sounds like you are trying so hard. Congratulations on your baby. Can you get any advice from your health visitor? Are there any breastfeeding cafes near you? Can you look into getting advice from a lactation consultant?
Can baby latch on? How many times a day does he have a good breakfast from you? How many times are you pumping? Things won’t improve straight away, it can take a little while for your body to catch up in regards to your milk supply. I would advise a lactation specialist if you can. Be kind to yourself, it’s not always easy

Are you BFing directly or exclusively pumping? If baby is feeding directly they will get more out of your breasts. Hpw much you can pump is absolutely no reflection on how much you are actually producing.

If you’re in the UK you could talk to one of the BFing Helplines. If you’re not in the UK try the La Lèche League.

Also have a read of this on increasing your supply Flowers
